It's helpful to put bounds on the constraints that domininate backup power preparations. As a start, three or four matter most: 1. Budget, how much to spend 2. Labor, how hard to work on maintenance, setup and shutdown 3. Goals, what the user wants to run and how long 4. Neighbors, dominated by noise and fuel storage limits The first three are personal choices, subject to change. The last is generally immutable: Fuel storage is regulated by law, noise limits are regulated by courtesy first and law last. One has to make guesses initially, work through the design, check the constraints for compatibility, adjust constraints and repeat. 20241124
